Colorado National Monument Natural wonder of the Grand Valley. The monument consists of impressive geologic features including towering red sandstone monoliths; deep, sheer walled canyons; and a variety of wildlife – bighorn sheep, golden eagles, mule deer and mountain lions. . .” Established in 1911, the National Monument offers more than 20,000 acres; a dramatic twenty-three mile Rim-Drive; and self-guided hiking or backcountry trails. |
Grand Mesa At over 10,000 feet the largest flat-top mountain in the world rises more than a mile above the valley floor. Discover aspen and spruce groves, flowered meadows and over 200 cool clear lakes offering fantastic fishing for rainbow, brook and brown trout. Grand Mesa has abundant wildlife, making this a popular area for hiking and fall hunting. In the winter, enjoy all types of snow sports from cross-country skiing to snowmobiling and snowball fights. |

Fresh Fruits & Vegetables The fertile land of the Grand Valley produces fabulous fruits and vegetables. Farm fresh cherries, peaches, apricots, apples, melons, tomatoes and pies area available from fruit stands and orchards all around the Grand Valley. Or, take in the Grand Junction Farmer’s Market on Thursday evenings from June 12 – Sept 18 & Palisade Sunday Market from 10 AM to 2 PM on Sundays during the summer to sample a variety of the area’s fresh produce all at once. |
Wine Tasting Over 17 Colorado wineries are within easy reach of Junction West. Producing everything from crisp, refreshing Chardonnay to hearty Cabernet to pleasing Port and dessert wines – you are sure to find something you like. Learn about the colorful history of Western Colorado’s explorers, cowboys and indians at the Museum of the West. Downtown Grand Junction An eclectic blend of old and new, Downtown Grand Junction has retained its quaint charm with historic Victorian-style buildings, beautifully decorated shop windows, unique restaurants and old-fashioned community events designed to keep neighbors and friends in touch. Visit Art on the Corner, Grand Junction’s unique yearlong outdoor sculpture exhibit. In the summer, join the locals at the Famer’s Market on Thursday evenings. |

Mountain Bike Trails Over the past decade Grand Junction and Fruita locals have created some of the sweetest single-track in the Western United States. The Fruita Fat Tire Festival in April is a popular event with mountain bike enthusiasts.
